The Issues

Thank you for your patience as we work to get this website up as fast as possible. My views on more issues, as well as ideas for resolutions, will be here soon!

In the meantime please feel free to "Ask Justin" for specific questions!

You can can also visit our "Share Your Story" page to share your experiences and thoughts with me. This is a team effort and the more you share your views, concerns and ideas with me the better I can work to help us find the right resolution!

Thank you again for your support and patience.

If elected, what would your first step be?

My first step would be to hold an emergency meeting, inviting and encouraging all parents and students to come to me with their questions and concerns. I would have us work to compile a list of concerns and possible solutions. Next I'd have one with teachers and administrators to hear their concerns. I would work to get honest answers for everyone. Conflicting questions? I'll try to find common ground between the two.

The Role of the Parent

I am a dad. Education is the job of the school. Our kids and personal beliefs are the job of the parent. Parents pay for the school system so I support them having a say in school matters. I don't care what politics a person holds. Politicians aren't the ones taking our children to practice late at night, making their dinner, helping them with homework, or reminding them 100 times to brush their teeth. You know who does those things? Us, the parents. Parents matter and we need to let parents support what they feel is best for their children and their children's futures.

Covid Mandates

I believe that the government should keep their hands out of your personal life. In the beginning of the pandemic I wore a mask, but we know more now and I no longer do so. I have seen the damage that it does to my child. If you feel you need to wear a mask, I'll support that. I won't label you, make you feel bad for wearing a mask or try to force you to take it off. I am supportive of cleaning routine and sick individuals staying home, but I am opposed to government mandates that violate anyone's rights or medical freedom. We must stop villainizing the people who choose to mask up or get vaccinated, as well as the people who decide it is not for them. Bullying is never okay and our children need to see us setting that example.

Our children need to be put first. I understand that I won't be liked by everyone, but I am not going to change my views just because the government tries to manipulate me or because someone disagrees with me. However, I will work to come to common ground if everyone is willing to also.

Critical Race Theory (CRT)/Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DIE)

CRT/DIE is racist garbage. There's no need for it in the educational setting. Kids don't see color. If you ask my son (9yr) or his friends/teammates what they are their answer would be "we are brothers". Colored kids don't need to be taught that they are oppressed and their white friends are privileged oppressors. CRT causes division where there isn't any. What happens when you ask a kid what they are thinking about? Nine out of ten times you'll get a crazy imaginative story or they will tell you that they are thinking about having a snack or how they will play next. Teenagers are worried about making Tictoks and hanging out with friends. They don't see color. CRT is forcing them to see it.

I once had a 8yr ask me why I was so dark while I was coaching for our baseball team. The parents faces were pale and in shock because they had never encountered that. My dad response was, "Well my mom set the oven for extra crispy" and we all laughed. But then I told him to hold his hand out. I put mine next to his and explained we may have different skin tones but we both have skin, we both have beating hearts and we both breath the same air. We are the same, but different and I love him more because he's not the same as me. He smiled, said "Ok Coach" and went on his merry way.

Kids are going to have those questions, the response should be along the lines of how I responded and not something about how he has some kind of white privilege.

So my belief is that CRT (by any name) needs to be trashed. I read the CRT book out of curiosity and there's no place for that garbage. I'd push for creative thinking, utilizing imagination and creativity. Both those will create job builders one day and contribute to the way of life in a positive way.

It's that simple.  CRT should never be taught and the focus instead should be on creative thinking, logic and common sense.

Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE)

I'm totally against CSE. I have spoken with parents who do not like the idea of pushing CSE on their children and I agree. Instead, when kids have questions they should be encouraged to go to their parents or guardians for the answers. The school staff should let a parent know when a child has questions, or is upset, and offer them support and resources, if requested.

Cameras in Classrooms

I would be supportive of cameras in the classrooms. It would keep our children safe, hold teachers accountable, and help us hold our children accountable. As an example, if your child has been acting up or a teacher is accused of inappropriate behavior cameras can provide the evidence needed determine the appropriate response. We have cameras all around the school to keep the kids safe outside. Let's get cameras in the classrooms to keep everyone safe in there too.
